Blood Secrets by Morgan Busse

Back Cover: Not everyone wants to see the world saved . . .

Time is running out. Cities are being engulfed in the Mist and humanity is on the brink of extinction. Theo believes he has found a way to stop mankind from Turning, but he doesn’t know how to alter Cass’s unique blood into a cure. Or if it can even be done.

Meanwhile, Cass struggles with the idea that she is possibly the savior of the world—a world she is not sure is worth saving.

From the Winchester manse to the steel city of Decadenn, there is something more chasing Cass than the House of Lords or the masked man who can walk in the Mist. Soon she must decide if she will use her blood to save mankind or let those who only care about themselves perish.

Review: And the plot thickens! Cass and Theo are on the edge of finding a cure to the deadly, world-killing cure.... but of course, there is always someone in power who wants to watch the world burn.

What I loved about this book was the character development in Cass. In part two of the Skyworld Series Cass really has to wrestle with what is right versus what is fair. She has had a brutal, hard life. Those in power have done nothing to help her. Now, with an answer to the curse within her, she has to decide if she simply looks after herself.... or helps everyone.... including those who would have Purged her into the mist to die.

Throughout it all, Theo is a constant presence of solid goodness. His intentions are so honest and he is so solid. I thought for sure he would falter at some of the scenarios and losses thrown his way throughout the story, but he soldiered on. Theo really is a standard for doing what is good to Cass and in a way, a light to show her the right path.

The Skyworld Series is wrapped up beautifully in this second novel and I have to say that I really enjoyed this two book series. It is a fun, action packed, and very creative read. The whole 'zombie' thing took a little getting used to, and at times it could be dark and really creepy, but I still enjoyed the series a lot. If you are ok withe the Orks in Lord of the Rings you'll be fine with the Cursed in this one. In short, fun series that I think any teen or adult would enjoy.
