Review: It's always nice to mix up genres. I've been reading a lot of historical romance lately so it was refreshing to pick up a 'who-done-it' thriller. This book had a lot of twists...deceivingly so. I pegged it for a stereotypical crime novel and figured I had the book completely unwrapped by about 1/2 the way through. I was wrong.
Word of warning, if you are getting a little bored with the first half of this book, don't give up. The second half is where things really start to happen and the twists start twisting. I ended up being surprised right to the end - and isn't that what every reader wants from this genre of book?
I did find this novel a little hard to get into. I didn't quite believe the characters and something about them didn't feel believable. I also couldn't take some of the initial interviews from 'suspects' seriously. Some of the answers had me laughing.
However, I stuck it out because I wanted to know who had done the crime, and I am really glad I did. The characters developed throughout the book and became much more believable and the crime itself turned out to be quite a complex web.
"End Game" was an entertaining read and worth my time. Thank-you to Graf Martin Communications and Bake Publishing House for a complimentary copy.
