Standoff by Patricia Bradley

Review:
She was told he had committed suicide. All of the signs pointed to it... except for that fact that Brooke new her father. She'd grown up by his side and followed his strong footsteps into law enforcement. On the eve of her own induction into the force, there was no way her father had pulled the trigger on himself - despite what the authorities had ruled.

With grit and determination, Brooke battles back her grief and struggles to pull back the layers of mystery that seem to cloud her father's demise thicker and thicker each day. Who...and why.... is someone going to so much effort to hide the reason for her father's murder? The pressure builds as Brooke brushes too close to the truth, and the killer turns his sights on her.

Struggling to discern friend from enemy, Brooke cautiously reaches out to an old friend, Luke, for help. He instinctively knows what to do - even when he shouldn't. Soon, Brooke finds more questions being added to her mind as Luke's story beings to curdle. Something isn't adding up....

With more than enough twists and turns to keep you busy and your eyes scanning the page, "Standoff" is an entertaining and quick moving crime thriller that will more than 'scratch that itch' for a good mystery.
