Present Danger by Elizabeth Goddard

Review: Present Danger was a thrill! I had a lot of fun reading this book. The story starts off mid-way through Jack and Terra's story. Early on in the book you realize that there is some serious history between the two of them and the lives they've led while apart. This book is a real blend between uncovering the backstory on these two law enforcement officers and trying to untangle their complicated present.

Present Danger weaves a convoluted tale - and if I were to describe its theme in a sentence, I'd say that it really draws on the old adage, "You can't escape your past." This book is about people who have let their past define them, dictate their choices, and build or destroy relationships.... and how those same people begin to let go and realize that while you can't escape the past, you can still change the future.

I don't want to make it sound boring, because it's not at all! This book is actually fast paced and full of plot twists, surprising characters, and a really good love story. I particularly loved how all the ends got pulled together at the conclusion of the book - so clever!

I'd definitely recommend this book. A good summer read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the Rocky Mountain Courage Series.

Thank-you to Graf Martin Communications and to Baker Publishing House for a complimentary copy of this book.

Back Cover: Former FBI Special Agent Jack Tanner is working as a detective in Montana when he comes across a body in the national forest during a search and rescue mission. He's committed to finding the killer, even if it means working alongside his old flame, US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors.

When Terra discovers that the murder victim had ties to a powerful and dangerous trafficker of archaeological artifacts, the investigation takes a deadly turn--one that hits too close to home. As Terra fears she lacks the courage to face what comes next, Jack is more determined than ever to protect her. But he's failed her before.

If he fails this time, it will cost them far more than just their hearts.
