I really liked this book - couldn't put it down in-fact! I'm quite sure this is the first book I've read by Lynn Blackburn, but I'm certain it will not be the last. This was a really great story, and it literally did not stop throwing twists at the reader until the LAST chapter. I had quite a few, "Whaaaaat?" moments. Fair warning: This is not a book you will easily put down once you start.
In addition to not figuring out the plot until the end (That is a big deal for me) I also really fell in love with the characters. Agents Faith Malone and Luke Powell are quite the pairing, and I was cheering for them the whole story. They are likeable, flawed, and believable. The story is well written, well woven, and at the end of the day - incredibly enjoyable. The secondary characters woven into Faith and Luke's story also have my interest highly piqued (Ahem, Zane??), and I would not be surprised to find them taking center stage in Blackburn's next book.
I'd certainly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romantic mystery/crime novel. There is violence in this book, but nothing an older teen should be bothered by. There is no inappropriate sexual content.
Thank-you to Graf Martin Communications and to Baker Publishing House for a copy.
Back Cover: US Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell is lucky to be alive. Three of his fellow agents have died in unusual circumstances in the past ten weeks. Luke is devastated by the loss of his friends and colleagues, and his inability to locate the killer feels like a personal failure. He and his team are experts at shielding others, but now the protectors are in need of protection.
FBI Special Agent Faith Malone is driven to succeed and confident in her ability to solve every case she's assigned. She's been put in charge of the investigation into the unprecedented attacks, and with Luke's life in danger, the stakes have never been higher. But it's hard to know how to fight back when you don't know who the enemy is.
Luke has teamed up with Faith before, but he's not convinced she's up for the job and she's not convinced he's telling her everything he knows. As more agents are targeted, Luke and Faith will have to learn to trust each other and work together to bring a killer to justice and prevent any more names from joining their fallen brothers and sisters on the Secret Service Wall of Honor.
